Aims

Most computer users in Uganda today know English, and their machines use this language. However, as in any other country, most people in Uganda would prefer not to have to learn a whole new language simply to be able to use a tool. On the other hand the general level of literacy is good and people would certainly benefit from readily accesible computer technology.

The Luganda translation effort should be a significant step towards enabling any literate Luganda speaker (and probaly speakers of some other bantu languages) to make use of the power of electronic computers and information technology.
